I've been a fan of the Hakuouki series ever since it came out as an anime. Even though this particular PSP game has been out in the Japan in 2009, it recently came out this month as an English version and keeping their original Japanese voice actors! (*o*)
Hijikata is normally the obvious choice since the anime leaned more on to his story line and I've known a lot of fangirls who like him. But to me, Okita is number one. Ever since he went onscreen and gave that cocky smile, I knew I was going to love his character. ♥
I want the art book! ToT
So having finished his route first in the game, I took this initiative to provide a guide on how to complete all of his Media Gallery CGs. I haven't seen guides anywhere yet and hopefully this can help some fangirls who are also interested in playing the game.
I do have to admit that I got some help in completing Okita's route but it was a Japanese guide. Google Translate translates like shit inaccurately so I had some trouble figuring out what choices you have to make in order to be in the right path. Depending on what you choose, you either get a good ending or a bad ending so your choices in the game do matter! Okita has FOUR endings to boot! >_< But since we're here to complete his CG Media Gallery, I'll indicate when to save and/or load so we can get all of 'em.
I have to warn you that this post is going to be very long. Also, I won't be providing screenshots since I'd like to keep this guide as spoiler-free as much as I can for the sake of one friend IRL. I also included the prompts to the choices so that you won't be lost in following the story line. It's important to follow them since there's a possibility that you might get branched off to a different character. So, here goes!

At this point of the game, you're on the correct path on ending the game with Okita's route. I am advising you to have a separate save file as Chapter 5 is going to be a very critical point to get the endings. As I said, there are 4 endings to Okita's route: 2 good endings and 2 bad endings.
The ending scenes of the good endings are pretty much the same, however, the level of corruption (Okita's status) is different. I'm going to start with one bad ending first, then move on to thegood ending with a high level corruption, another bad ending, then to the good ending with the lowest corruption level. Basically, odd-numbered chapters are going to be the bad endings, while the even-numbered chapters are good endings. This way, we can see as little spoilers as possible.
The different endings have been divided by sections so right when you finish one ending section of this guide, load the save file from here and proceed to the next ending section. Remember, our goal here is to complete Okita's CG Gallery so whatever you do, don't touch/overwrite this save file!

So far, I haven't found any luck on local gaming stores. ;_; I'll buy from Amazon as a last resort though, and I do hope they still have the limited edition since it has the OST and the artbook! :D
It's nice to know another Okita fan like me, hehe. And yes, I do agree that he shouldn't have died in the anime that way but I guess it really can't be helped since the real Okita Souji did die of tuberculosis. ~_~

DeleteIf you meant the picture with Okita (in fury mode) clutching the protagonist aka you, that's easy to get. You can get the picture right when these choices pop up during Chapter 5:

It's the first set of choices right after the scene with Sen and Okita. Make sure to choose "MAKE HIM ENDURE IT" and you'll be able to get the picture from his gallery. That's it. Hope this helps ^_^

yes, yukimura (the female main character) becomes a fury no matter which option is chosen :) she's actually a pure-blooded demon which is "ranked" higher than a fury.
the term "fury" (rasetsu) was only given to the vampire-like creatures that took the medicine. dying soldiers, failing body conditions like Okita, or simply those who took it will somewhat raise their abilities and gain super-human strength, but with side-effects.
in yukimura's case in Okita's route, her pure demon blood became corrupted/tainted because Kaoru forced her to drink the medicine thus making her a fury. :)

i'll try to check back on this later on since it's been awhile that i've played the game, and Okita was the first character route i played through. i might have forgotten and/or got my memories jumbled up with the rest of the character routes so
i could be wrong. but if my memory serves me right, this is what i recall.

Deletei just played this game again today just to make sure that i really get the good ending by following the 5-4 steps. not surprisingly, i got the good ending :O
i'm guessing you accidentally chose another options as an answer to one of the prompts. are you positive that you chose to give Okita some blood ever since he started having seizures? you must always choose to "Give him blood" except at Chapter 7 where the heroine "Will endure it" to get the good and true ending. (you can also take an alternative good ending route with the 5-2 steps)
if you get the ending where Okita and the girl are laying on the grass under the sun, then you already finished the game with Okita's good ending. as sad as it may seem, his ending is really bittersweet and i think that the game developers made it that way because the real Okita Souji died young because of his sickness. different versions of Okita in different shows always depict him with dying young so i guess that this is somewhat of a tribute to him. :/
Gyaahhh so funny how I ended up playing his route...I played his first, by accident. I decided to run away, and that got the whole love-CG to show up and I was like... Great. Okita was NOT my favorite at all before this game. Since I got a love point with him though, I went through with the route and...
ReplyDeleteI loved it. <3 There was so much more to him, I feel, than the anime showed (obviously), and somehow this time around, all the "I'll kill you"'s and pervy jokes or suggestions weren't as annoying to me as they were when I first saw the anime. Hehe. Okita was my best friend's favorite, oops, and now he's my...4th favorite. Better than being a no-favorite...
Oh! And Yamazaki's my absolute favorite, so I especially love this route for all the moments he pops up - especially the fact that you don't hear anything about him dying, but you actually get to see him before he presumably ;__; dies. But still, yeah, a lot of Yamazaki moments which made me happy <3 And the feuds between him and Okita were... strangely adorable. XD
Anyhow. ****THANK YOU so much for this guide especially!**** Since he was my first route, I really had no idea what the blood, medicine, and endurance options were doing to my outcome. I ended up killing him twice via Kaoru, and then the third time he went mad and killed me. [oddly enough something similar happened with Sen in the Toudou route] =__=;;; Then I found your guide and luckily had a save file before I started messing with the blood and stuff, and made sure I got my happy ending! I was so sick of crying at that point... ;__; His sad ending... TT___TT
So yes, thanks for helping me get the nice happy ending with my new favorite~ ^^ This guide in particular sooo helped me out, and after that I kind of got the hang of things. Okita feels and seems horrid as a character in the anime, i agree on that. but halfway through, i knew that there was something behind his threats and his teasing smile. it's just too bad that the anime wasn't able to portray how deep his character is.

ReplyDeleteBefore playing Souji's route I was more or less neutral towards him, but now he's another favourite too. Just my own opinion, I found Souji to be quite sweet later in his route, second favourite in terms of romance w/ Chizuru. Although the bad end is really sad kms, I really like how it showed his strong feelings towards Chizuru imo. idk for some reason I wasn't expecting to feel the romance in his route but I really enjoyed the romance (only behind Sano's route for me) so it was a pleasant surprise.
Souji's character type is usually like that; he's somewhat of a tsundere so you can really expect him to be sweet and loving despite being mean and playful. he has always been my favorite while Harada comes in second. :)

That's what i first thought but there's a part where he softly laughed while sleeping right?
Okita managed to survive the corruption of his fury and he was able to somewhat cleanse his illness with the spring water from where they spent their last days together. In exchange, they can no longer leave the forgotten village since Okita needs to be near the water from the village.
DeleteFrom Chizuru's last words, there was still no guarantee whether he was going to live a long life or if he's just going to drop dead. remember, the fury made him super-human at the price of shortening his lifespan. so, shortened lifespan + tuberculosis = uncertainties. Chizuru is a bit anxious whether or not Okita is still going to wake up from their quiet afternoon naps (at least that's what i recall), thus it's bittersweet. hope that answers your question :)

I just asked the same question in Harada's section. :p If you are playing on the 3ds, then do the Hakuoki Memories in the Extras menu. You get the last picture when you view each character's memory story.

nope, I played this on my PSP. unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any copy sold in my area so I had to resort to playing with an ISO file. you can find some ISO copies around that should work fine :)

Well, at least I can play the game now! Same as you, I've also liked Okita-san since I watched the anime! (Gotta admit that some parts of my initial attract for him is due to my favorite character in Gintama, Okita Sougo, who's also based from Okita Souji), but now I can say for certain that I like him without any correlation to Sougo! ^_^
I also like Harada-san second to Okita-san here! Both of them love so hard, just with a different way.. :)

DeleteHi there, first off, thank you for these awesome guides, wish I had the patience to just play the game lol, but anyways, my question is how do I get the the CG that in the menu is supposed to be at the top of the menu between the CG you get after you easedrop on him and the doctor and the one you get when he becomes a fury. I'm not sure where I went wrong or even how far back I would have to go to get it. Hope you or someone can help me out, not really interested in searching elsewhere just for one CG you know?
ReplyDeletenevermind, i got it by accident while doing Kazama's route. In Ch.3, instead of choosing Try to Attack, you should've put Try to Escape, cause that's how I got it. It's sooo adorable and am very glad I was able to get it, even though I hadn't expected it!
DeleteThanks for this. I spent like two hours trying to get Okita 's last gallery image and I kept getting the bad ending because I didn't understand how choosing to give blood four times would change anything (as it never did in any other character's route).
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen but one episode of the anime yet but I've almost got the platinum trophy and read a bit of Okita's back story... I have to say that despite the teasing smile I still found Okita cruel and mean at first despite looking like a positive cutie but had I known his back story I would have understood a lot more. He's such a little lonely kid at heart and damn it if his route isn't full of cruel, heart twisting angst (especially the picture I needed - hot angst, worth it to see Chizuru's true form). But he is also so sweet and loving and innocent to Chizuru it meets my heart. In terms of relationship to Chizuru only, I think he his my second or third - it's tough for me to say because Heisuke is also quite sweet and adorable in his western clothes. I like Harada and love his path but he's so smooth and confident guess I need a little more friction (though not as much as Hijikata's - though his ending is beautiful).
I would love to play SSL and see Souji finally not suffer one day. Besides the comic was pretty hilarious with his yandere tendencies toward Chizuru.

Delete@Yuki Shiroki yes, it's possible to get that CG. all character routes have a similar cherry blossom with blue background theme and in order to get it, you just need to finish their story line. there's no prompt when it's going to appear, but it should be in your CG gallery once the credits stop rolling. ^_^

Does that make it 22 CGs for Souji then? If so, then I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have 21 CGs right now and I still can't get that CG. Maybe it's because I'm playing the IOS version? I was wondering since I know the IOS version Souji has 23 CGs.

DeleteYou need to follow Chapter 5-3 closely on my guide. From chapter 5, choose these in order when they come up:
Give him blood
Give him blood
Calm Okita down
Don't kill him
Give him blood
Want blood

So far i succeded in collecting 20/22 CGs of Okita, and right now I really need your help :'( No matter what I can't seem to find the second and the last CGs of Okita's last CG page (his 3rd page is the one where the first picture is the kissing and the third one is the lying down on the grass one. i can't seem to get the rest of his last page) Please help me!! really need your help ;U;

DeleteI made this guide when the only version available was the PSP one, and I'm still currently playing the iOS/Android version. In the PSP version, you automatically get all the CGs when you follow all of the endings properly plus you get an additional CG after the credits roll (it's the one where they have sakura petals falling).
I'm not really sure how to get the last two CG's, but I think that you can only acquire them when you play the Special Episodes or other extra content that you can unlock. I'm still discovering everything else as I haven't finished playing through with the iOS/Android version. I'll let you know when I come up with something. ^^;

Okay, if you're playing with the iOS/Android version then I just got all of Okita's CGs.
DeleteThe sakura petals falling (which I previously mentioned) can be found at the Characters Episode. Simply choose Okita and finish his short story, there will be no prompts to choose from.
The last CG of Okita can be found at the Special Episode (Tea Ceremony). At the first prompt, head to the Kitchen as Harada and Okita will be there. When Kondo comes in, simply chooose to go with Okita (of course), then just finish the story. You'll get his last CG at the end of it ^_^

Hmm, I wouldn't put it like that. Each just has some good endings and some bad ones, depending on how you pick the prompts (on how to respond) in the game.

ReplyDeletenope, you make him (Okita) endure the pain as soon as the prompt is shown. that alone will end Okita's route (bad ending) and get one CG to add to his gallery :)

DeleteIt really has been a long time since I opened my PSP/iOS version since I got the Steam/PC one, so I am not exactly sure what CG you're missing. But if it is what I think it is, then I think I can help.
For that option to pop up in chapter 7, you have to get Okita to the lowest corruption as possible so you have to keep giving him blood.
Simply put, here are the options to get it starting from chapter 5:
Give him blood
Give him blood
Calm Okita down
Don't kill him
Give him blood
This will eventually lead to the "Want blood/Will endure it" option. Hope this helps ^_^

ReplyDeleteHello! To get Okita to live, you ALWAYS have to give him blood if the selection comes up. Otherwise, his corruption level will go up, resulting to a bad ending. Remember, ALWAYS give him blood. (Picking "I Want Blood" will result to another bad ending, however.)
